How long will my Energizer® batteries last in their packaging?
Q: How long will my Energizer® batteries last in their packaging?
A: Shelf life varies across our products:
- Energizer MAX® AA, AAA, C, and D cells last up to 10 years in storage, while our 9V lasts up to 5 years in storage
- Energizer® EcoAdvanced® AA and AAA last up to 12 years in storage
- Energizer® Ultimate Lithium™ AA and AAA last up to 20 years in storage, while our 9V lasts up to 10 years in storage
- Energizer Recharge® AA, AAA, C, D, and 9V last charged up to 12 months in storage, with a battery life of up to 5 years under normal conditions for AA and AAA batteries

A: Yes, all good things must come to an end. To find the Best If Used By (BIUB) date of the batteries in question, please look on the uppermost section of the cells, near the battery type (AA, 9V, etc.). You will see a white box with the Best If Used By year printed within it.You can find smaller cells BIUB on the packaging. The best consumer experience and battery performance occurs with battery usage before the Best If Used By Date. The battery may function beyond that date but with lower performance.
Can you mix different brands of batteries?

A: As chemistries and voltage vary across both battery types and brands, we recommend that you do not mix batteries. Mixing of cells can result in battery leakage and sub-optimal device performance. For best results, replace all batteries with the same brand, chemistry, voltage, and size when the device performance becomes unsatisfactory.
